The total installed power generation capacity of the Inter RAO – Electrogeneratsiya power plants decreased by 1,105.2 MW (-5%). As a part of the outdated and inefficient equipment decommissioning program, as of January 1, 2017, the power generating capacity was decreased by 1,195 MW at the Verkhniy Tagil TPS (330 MW) and the Cherepet TPS (865 MW).

In the period from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, following the recertification process, the installed capacity of the Gusinoozersk TPS was increased from 1,130 WM to 1,160 MW (the power unit 2 capacity was increased by 10 MW to 190 MW, the power unit 5 capacity was increased by 10 MW to 210 MW, and the power unit 6 capacity was increased by 10 MW to 210 MW), the installed capacity of the Irklinskaya TPS was increased from 2,400 WM to 2,414 MW (the power unit 2 capacity was increased from 300 MW to 314 MW), the installed capacity of the Urengoy TPS was increased from 498.4 WM to 514 MW (the LGU-450 power unit 1 capacity was increased from 474.4 MW to 490 MW), the installed capacity of the Kharanorskaya TPS was increased from 655 WM to 665 MW (the 10 MW power unit 3 capacity was increased to 235 MW), the installed capacity of the Yuzhnouralsk TPS was also increased (the power unit 1 and power unit 2 capacity was increased from 420 MW to 422.08 MW and 422.42 MW respectively).

Power generation by the Inter RAO – Electrogeneratsiya power plants increased in Q1 2017 by 9.9% as compared to the previous quarter and amounts to 24.607 bn kWh. The increase is attributed to the fact that equipment which had been idle due to scheduled maintenance or unscheduled repair was put back in operation. Utilization of installed capacity increased to 54.5%. 

The measures implemented to increase efficiency, as well as decommissioning of inefficient equipment resulted in a decrease of the reference fuel consumption value for power generation by 5.1 gram of reference fuel per kWh.

As a part of the maintenance routine in Q1 2017, 9 repairs of turbines (of the total power generation capacity of 2,510 MW) and 12 repairs of boilers (of the total steam generation capacity of 8,700 t/h) were carried out.

Heat generation by the Inter RAO – Electrogeneratsiya power plants increased in Q1 2017 by 0.7 % as compared to the previous quarter and amounts to 1,698,700 Gcal. The increase is attributed to a lower average temperature in the winter season of 2017 in the regions serviced by Inter RAO.

The fuel balance of Inter RAO – Electrogeneratsiya changed insignificantly: the share of natural gas increased from 80.34% in Q1 2016 to 83.75% in Q1 2017, the share of coal decreased from 19.17% to 16.12%, the share of mazut decreased from 0.49% to 0.13%.

Inter RAO – Electrogeneratsiya comprises 17 largest heat and power plants in Russia of the total installed power generation capacity of 20.9 GW (as of January 1, 2017).
