Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants announces operating results for the first 9 months of 2019

JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants announced its operating results for the first nine months of 2019.

*Including JSC Nizhnevartovskaya SDPP, as well as Mayakovskaya TPP, Talakhovskaya TPP and Pregolskaya TPP in the Kaliningrad region

Power generation by enterprises of Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants in the reporting period amounted to 69.1 billion kWh, having increased slightly compared to a similar period in 2018 (an increase by 0.1%). The growth of the indicator is related by a slight increase of power consumption in UES of Russia (+0,5%). The installed capacity utilization factor of JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants increased up to 46.8% in January-September 2019.

In the first nine months of 2019, the installed power plant capacity of Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants decreased by 0.6% as compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to 22.6 GW (the first nine months of 2018 – 22.7 GW). This indicator was influenced by several factors:

•        commissioning of four power units with total capacity of 455.235 MW at Pregolskaya TPP in the Kaliningrad region;

•        decommissioning of inefficient equipment of two power units at the Kashirskaya SDPP (totaling 600 MW at both facilities) on January 1, 2019;

•        the installed capacity of power unit No.2 at Mayakovskaya TPP (+2.65 MW) and power unit No.2 at Talakhovskaya TPP (+2.1 MW) has increased due to recertification since August 1, 2019.

In January-September 2019, the measures implemented to increase efficiency, as well as commissioning of energy efficient generating equipment resulted in the decrease of reference fuel consumption for power generation by 1.91 g of reference fuel per kWh.

As a part of the maintenance routine in the first nine months of 2019, the Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants and JSC Nizhnevartovskaya SDPP completed 36 repairs of power units (total power generation capacity of 11 933 MW), 43 repairs of turbo generators (total power generation capacity of 4639 MW), and 27 repairs of boiler units (total steam generating capacity of 6035 t/h).

In the first nine months of 2019, heat distribution by power plants of JSC Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants increased by 6.2% year-on-year and totaled 2959.7 thousand Gcal. Heat output increased due to considerable growth of heat supply from Severo-Zapadnaya CHPP and Sochinskaya TPP to municipal enterprises.

The fuel mix of JSC Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants changed insignificantly: the share of natural gas increased from 84.45% in January-September 2018 to 85.03% in January-September 2019, the share of coal decreased by 0.55% – from 15.38% to 14.83%, the share of fuel oil decreased by 0.03 and amounted to 0.14% by the end of September 2019.
