Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants announces operating results for 2019

JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants announced its operating results for 2019.

*Including JSC Nizhnevartovskaya SDPP, as well as Mayakovskaya TPP, Talakhovskaya TPP and Pregolskaya TPP in the Kaliningrad region

Power generation by enterprises of Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants in the reporting period amounted to 92.1 billion kWh, having decreased by 2.7% compared to 2018. The decrease is mainly attributed to the fact that there was a change in the repair and maintenance schedule compared to 2018 in the circumstances of cheap generation surplus of hydro power plants (+3.6%) and nuclear power plants (+2.2%) with a slight increase of power consumption in UES of Russia (+0,4%). The negative effect of power generation decrease was offset by work-load optimization of power generation capacities, including work-load decline of less efficient power units.

The installed capacity utilization factor of JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants decreased to 46.65%.

In 2019, the installed power plant capacity of Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants decreased by 1.6% as compared to 2018 and amounted to 22.6 GW (in 2018 – 22.9 GW). This indicator was influenced by several factors:

•          commissioning of two power units with total capacity of 232.973 MW at Pregolskaya TPP in the Kaliningrad region;

•          decommissioning of inefficient equipment of two power units at the Kashirskaya SDPP (totaling 600 MW at both facilities) on January 1, 2019;

•          the installed capacity of power unit No.2 at Mayakovskaya TPP (+2.65 MW) and power unit No.2 at Talakhovskaya TPP (+2.1 MW) has increased due to recertification since August 1, 2019.

In 2019, the measures implemented to increase efficiency, as well as commissioning of energy efficient generating equipment resulted in the decrease of reference fuel consumption for power generation by 2.05 g of reference fuel per kWh.

As a part of the maintenance routine in 2019, the Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants and JSC Nizhnevartovskaya SDPP completed 46 repairs of power units (total power generation capacity of 15 548 MW), 51 repairs of turbo generators (total power generation capacity of 5 533 MW), and 33 repairs of boiler units (total steam generating capacity of 7 571 t/h).

In 2019, heat distribution by power plants of JSC Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants increased by 5.9% year-on-year and totaled 4488.1 thousand Gcal. Heat output increased due to considerable growth of heat supply from Severo-Zapadnaya CHPP and Sochinskaya TPP to municipal enterprises.

The fuel mix of JSC Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants changed insignificantly: the share of natural gas increased from 84.20% in 2018 to 84.99% in 2019, the share of coal decreased by 0.83% – from 15.66% to 14.83%, the share of fuel oil decreased by 0.04% and amounted to 0.18% by the end of 2019.
