Testing of the power system operation in an isolated mode completed in the Kaliningrad Region
On September 19, the power system of the Kaliningrad Region was disconnected from the BRELL energy ring for eight hours, and was operating in an isolated mode. Power generation was equal to its consumption and amounted to 460-498 MW.
During the tests, one half power unit was operating at Kaliningradskaya TPP-2. At Pregolskaya TPP three power units were operating, while at Mayakovskaya TPP and Talakhovskaya TPP, all equipment was used (two power units at each power plant).
Frequency was regulated by Mayakovskaya TPP, Pregolskaya TPP and Talakhovskaya TPP in rotation.
After eight hours of operation of the power system of the Kaliningrad Region in an isolated mode, at 5:06 p.m., the high-voltage line 326 of the region's power system was successfully synchronized with the Unified Energy System of Russia (UES of Russia) at the 330 kV substation “Sovetsk 330”. Simultaneous operation of the power system of the Kaliningrad Region and UES of Russia was fully restored.
The tests were successfully done, and they confirmed that the power system of the Kaliningrad Region is ready for operation in an isolated mode, independently of UES of Russia.
