Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants Increased Heat and Electricity Generation in 2021

JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants announced operating results for 2021.

*Including JSC Nizhnevartovskaya TPP, as well as Mayakovskaya TPP, Talakhovskaya TPP, Pregolskaya TPP and Primorskaya TPP in the Kaliningrad region.

In the reporting period, power generation by enterprises of Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants amounted to 86.618 billion kWh, having increased by 16.7% compared to 2021. The change in the indicator is due to 5.5% increase in electricity consumption in the UES of Russia associated with the favorable weather conditions and gradual economic recovery after crisis downturn in 2020.

In 2021, the installed power plant capacity of Inter RAO – Electric Power Plants decreased by 330 MW (1.5%) year-on-year and amounted to 21.457 GW (21.787 GW in 2020) as a result of decommissioning of inefficient equipment of power unit No.3 at Kashirskaya SDPP (with the total capacity of 330 MW) on January 1, 2021.

In 2021, specific reference fuel consumption decreased by 1.16 g of r.f./kWh as a result of increased load of effective power plants of the Group.

2021 repair campaign at power plants of JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants included: 13 capital repairs of steam, hydraulic and gas turbines with total capacity of 2 296.7 MW; 12 capital repairs of steam boilers and waste-heat boilers with total steam generating capacity of 5 205.2 t/h; 11 medium repairs of repairs of steam and gas turbines with total capacity of 2 973.1 MW; 9 medium repairs of steam boilers and waste-heat boilers with total steam generating capacity of 6 305.1 t/h; 71 running repairs of steam, hydraulic and gas turbines with total capacity of 13 760.8 MW; 52 running repairs of steam boilers and waste-heat boilers with total steam generating capacity of 37 460.1 t/h.

In 2021, heat distribution by power plants of JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants increased by 9.16% year-on-year and amounted to 4734.885 thousand Gcal. The increase of heat distribution resulted from a considerable increase of heat distribution by Severo-Zapadnaya TPP on request of a consumer (State unitary enterprise «Fuel and energy complex of Saint Petersburg»). The increase of indicators of other branches of the Company was due to cold winter in the regions of the power plants’ operation.

Fuel mix of JSC Inter RAO — Electric Power Plants changed in comparison with 2020: the share of natural gas increased by 2.7% (from 82.7% to 85.4%), at the same time the share of coal and fuel oil decreased by 2.6% (from 17.1% to 14.5%) and 0.1% (from 0.2% to 0.1%) respectively.
